City stepping in to deal with rat infestation downtown

The house on the 500 block of Evernia of West Palm Beach is easy to spot.

Catherine Solo said that you can see new buildings and then you can see the damage.

The abandoned home next to Solo's property is a personal nightmare for her. The home has been abandoned for years and is now full of trash and in disrepair. "If you look closely you know you can actually see the holes that were chewed through the wood side of the house," Solo said.

"There are dozens of rats crossing into these buildings every day," Solo said.

She has been dealing with a rat infestation for months and the problem is not getting better. She has tried hiring a pest control service, but the rats seem to be multiplying. The woman is concerned about the health and safety of her family, as well as her property.

"I've had several clients come in and mention hey that house really smells, hey there are rodents coming from the house," Derek Bishop said.
